Over the decades, the Board has grown into a cornerstone of Assam's cultural and literary ecosystem. It has published more than 1,000 titles, of which around 550 are currently in circulation, and has paid tribute to distinguished Assamese litterateurs by bringing out centenary commemorative volumes and compilations of their complete works. The Board started the book fair movement in Assam by organising a national-level Book Fair in Guwahati in 1984, in collaboration with the National Book Trust of India. It then organised the first Guwahati Book Fair in 1987 independently, and has been running it as an annual event ever since. Who Should Apply?

For the Accounts Assistant post, this opportunity is well-suited for commerce graduates who have been working in accounts-related roles and are comfortable with Tally PRIME and Excel. If you have cleared CA (Inter) but have not pursued the full CA qualification, this post specifically rewards that credential with additional marks — making it particularly advantageous. Candidates in their late twenties or thirties with stable private-sector accounting experience who are looking to transition into a government-affiliated role will find this a realistic opportunity.

For the Driver post, this is clearly designed for experienced drivers who have already been working within Assam's government ecosystem. A minimum of five years' government or PSU driving experience is a firm requirement, which filters out fresh or privately-experienced applicants. If you hold a valid LMV licence issued under the Government of Assam and have long-term, verifiable experience in government service, this role offers stable contractual employment with a well-known cultural institution in the heart of Guwahati.

Both posts are contractual, which means candidates should apply with realistic expectations about job security while recognising the value of institutional experience and annual salary enhancement.
